What’s this about?
I started this blog on August 16, 2009 primarily to help keep family and friends updated on the ongoing treatment of my glioblastoma multiforme (brain tumor) that was diagnosed on July 24 and surgically removed two days later. I don’t want it to be too morbid or sappy, mostly just informational and educational with occasional twists of humor. I also don’t want the blog to just be about brain cancer, so from time to time I’ll post other stuff about life in general and great memories from my career as a newspaper journalist.
Give me a few days to get this thing up and running, and I’ll post more details about the diagnosis and prognosis, not to mention the more fun stuff.

I have read every word, and much as you tracked my journey across China and points south, I will track your journey as you battle this beast. One of the best weapons you have is your words; think about the people who cannot document what has happened to them and what they are feeling. I don’t know if you are a praying man, but I am a praying woman, and you will be constantly in my prayers and thoughts. Strength and courage to you, my friend.

Ok, seriously now, I’m just a little a little subdued here…. Shouldn’t our catching up be on Facebook, and look how we’ve gotten so old and what kind of dogs do you have and how’s the job kinda stuff??
Ken Amos hooked me up with your blog, seems like you have your family and friends right there for you. Always a good thing. And how is it that that picture of you with the easy rider garb is the best picture of you ever? Forget your ol mop of black hair!
Well Sean, know I’m thinking of you and hoping you get through the radiation/chemo quickly, and get back to riding that motorcycle. Who would of thunk THAT would be the safer thing for you to do????

Hey, I’m a Craig Crawford fan and heard about your blog through a twitter post. One of my best friends walked into my office one day and crying said I have cancer. We hugged and I told him we were in it together. I went with him to every chemo treatment, every doctor visit, two surgeries and a very serious discussion with his doctor regarding time. A couple of things we learned…..surround yourself with your family and friends, get all the positive energy you can grab…LAUGH!!, talk to the other patients, make them laugh and you’ll feel better….and, if you feel like crap, say so, your family and friends will understand. You’ll probably feel okay right after the treatment, but the fatigue will hit in about three days, and more importantly, if you start getting sick to your stomach….ginger snap cookies!! My friend, Dr. Dan just celebrated his fifth year as a cancer survivor and we plan for him to celebrate lots more!!! So, take care of yourself, and keep blogging cause I’m gonna be reading it and sending crazy positive energy your way!!! You can do it!!
